Virginia Counseling Services is proud to announce that we are an approved provider for the Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program (VASAP) in Northern Virginia.
What is VASAP?
VASAP stands for the Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program. Visit http://www.vasap.state.va.us/aboutus.html for more information.
What is the first step?
On you initial intake with an VASAP office, you will be given options for where to get a substance abuse evaluation/treatment from. Inquire with your VASAP case manager at your first appointment about your options.
If you select Virginia Counseling Services, your VASAP officer will give you a formal referral to us. Once that happens, you can contact Virginia Counseling Services to schedule your evaluation appointment.
How much are the costs?
The evaluation costs $300. If treatment is required, it is $150 per session.
Does insurance cover the evaluation and treatment?
Although insurance does not cover the initial evaluation, it may cover the individual sessions. The only insurance accepted at Virginia Counseling Services is Carefirst. That is not to say that if you have another insurance, you couldn’t use it. It depends on if your plan has Out-of-Network benefits! In those instances, you would pay after each session and we would submit the paperwork for reimbursement directly to you. Call and ask your insurance company if your plan has Out-of-Network benefits for more information
What does the evaluation consist of?
The evaluation consists of three parts: a clinical interview, a short written test completed upon arrival, and a drug/alcohol urinalysis conducted in the office.
