Virginia Counseling Services is proud to announce that we are an approved provider for the Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program (VASAP) in Northern Virginia.
What is VASAP?
VASAP stands for the Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program. Visit https://vasap.virginia.gov for more information.
What is the first step?
On your initial intake with a VASAP office, you will be given options for where to get a substance abuse evaluation/treatment from. Ask your VASAP case manager at your first appointment about your options.
If you select Virginia Counseling Services, your VASAP officer will give you a formal referral to us. Once that happens, you can contact Virginia Counseling Services to schedule your evaluation appointment.*
*There are times that your VASAP officer does not send us your referral information. It is advised that you contact us to schedule the evaluation without waiting for VASAP to notify us first.
How much are the costs?
The evaluation costs $500.
During your evaluation, we work with you to find treatment options (if necessary) that will fit your schedule, requirements, and budget.
Does insurance cover the evaluation and treatment?
Although insurance does not cover the initial evaluation, it may cover the individual sessions. Depending on your plan’s benefits and coverage, it may help with the financial obligations.
What does the evaluation consist of?
The evaluation consists of three parts: a clinical interview, a formalized objective test, and a drug/alcohol urinalysis conducted in the office.
