I’m embarrassed to admit that I only just now remembered that it was Alcohol Awareness Month! It is a time dedicated to increasing public understanding of the dangers of alcohol misuse and promoting safer choices. It encourages individuals, families, and communities to reflect on the impact of alcohol and to support those who may be struggling with addiction. The month also highlights the importance of prevention, early intervention, and access to treatment. Through education, outreach, and open conversation, it’s an opportunity to break the stigmas surrounding a challenge that affects millions.
To give credit where credit it due, I was reminded by an email from The Refuge. Located in Florida, they offer residential treatment services to adults struggling with a variety of mental health challenges. Their email caught my attention by offering an self-guided alcohol assessment quiz to help people questioning their alcohol use. If you’re interested in taking their online test, you can go to their Online Alcoholism Assessment – The Refuge page.
Thank you to all the mental health providers, medical professionals, substance abuse counselors everywhere supporting individuals and their families fight against their battles against substance use. If you or someone you know struggles with alcohol or other substances, reach out to us!
